Lake Avalon Treehouse
A unique lakefront lot provided the opportunity for this one of a kind home to be built into the native landscape. The lot, consisting of an aggressive grade, provided not only a challenge, but the chance to build a somewhat rare feature in Florida, a walkout basement. Painstaking care was taken throughout the design of the home and lot clearing process to be considerate of the large trees that were there long before this home. The end desire of this owner was to feel they lived among the canopy of the treetops overlooking Lake Avalon.
This tree house is an entertainer’s delight! The upstairs is open and lends itself to conversation while overlooking the beautiful, treed canopy and waterfront. On cool days the large rear balcony features a powered screen to keep guests protected, while a screened in pool underneath more resembling a flowing artesian spring in the woods, is a children’s playground.
A sprawling grand bathroom features a centerpiece of a large geode to tie the individual back to the love of their natural living experience. This home is complete with automation to enhance the ambiance coupled with nearly invisible audio built into the flat finished walls and ceiling. Finishes such as flooring, solid surfaces, lighting, and appliances were carefully selected to accompany the overall theme. The kitchen cabinetry design was completed by RBL Designs using the latest kitchen design software and installed by master craftsmen, this created a seamless fit for the Viking appliance suite and the towering, majestic cathedral ceiling.
The heart of the comfort of the home is a high efficiency mechanical system paired to a foam insulated shell, this helps to reduce energy consumption and provides consistent low humidity cooling.
